Beautifful Rhode Island

I live in the biggest little state in the union as Rhode Island is called. Our nickname is The Ocean State, and boy do we have ocean! Of course we are right next to Massachusetts, which is The Bay State, so we are surrounded by water everywhere we look. It's quite beautiful! Unfortunately, I am not a beach person, and I would much rather spend my time in the mountains, but I  really do love this state and all it has to offer. I love watching the ocean crest into gigantic waves, roll onto the sand, or crash against the rocks. (although I do not like swimming in it) I love going around a corner and finding an unexpected cove with a few boats floating along the glass like water, or see a few seagulls flying above me, cawing back and forth to one another as they spread their wings to catch the next breeze. I never get tired of it and I truly believe that there is beauty everywhere if we know where to look for it.

What I am currently reading.

I am a book nut. I can't remember when I have ever been without a book in my hands. Books take you to places you never thought you could go, whether it be to a distant universe, or right in your own back yard. Right now I am reading, Little Woman Abroad.

I have loved Louisa May Alcott since the first time I picked up and read Little Women when I was around ten years old. I have read hundreds of books since then, I usually read between  thirty two and thirty four books a year, and Little Women is still one of my most favorites. I have read most of Louisa's books, and I am very lucky to live about an hour away from Orchard House where the Alcott's lived. Unfortunately, Elizabeth (Beth) never lived in the house because she had already died, but some of May's (Amy's) drawings are still on the walls of her bedroom, Anna's (Meg's) nursery where she took care of her children, and Louisa's room still furnished with her bed and her writing desk are all still there, If you ever get the chance to tour the house, I highly recommend doing so. I hope to go back soon,

Hexies!!

I love working on paper pieced hexies! I used to cut the papers by hand, but now I use my Cricut., which makes the work go a bit faster. There are so many ways to sew them together but I really love making the traditional flowers. I haven't decided what kind of fabric I am going to use in-between them yet, but I know I want something plain and traditional. Unfortunately, most of the stores around here are still closed, so I can't look for any material just yet. I know I can order material on line, but I like to see the fabric up close for myself. This project is certainly keeping me busy.

Tumbling Block Quilt

Last night I cut out a hundred tumbler blocks for a small Tumbler Block quilt. I am going to hand piece and hand quilt this little quilt. I thought I would try a small quilt first, then if I like it move on to a larger one.

My new craft room.

I haven't blogged in years. My blog went the way of the dinosaurs a long time ago. What with everything that's happening out there and with having to give up volunteering, and other things I like to do for the time being, I thought I would try blogging again.

With both of my boys finally out of the house, (I have mixed feelings about that). I did the one thing I had been planning on doing for years....I turned the basement into my dream craft room. Well, at least I got as close to my dream craft room as I could. All of my crafting books, crafting supplies, and everything else that makes me happy are on shelves, displayed, or tucked into corners. This has been a dream of mine for a long time. I will be working from, and taking pictures of just about everything I am working on from this room. I call it my haven from the craziness that is going out there. It's my place to create, to dream, to be, I walk in here look at my supplies and books, and see all of the possibilities. I never know what I am going to be in the mood to work on next. I hope you will join me and find out.
